Queen Latifah Coming Out the Closet?

Wednesday Nov 19, 2008 – By The Edge

Blogs are buzzing that Queen Latifah is being pressured to “come out the closet” by a number of prominent gay groups. The groups would like for her to come out to help use her voice and support in helping overturning the controversial Proposition 8, which prohibits same sex marriage in California. Allegedly, has gone on the record saying — “the organization is threatening to boycott Queen Latifah if she doesn’t come out of the closet and they want her to do it during the People’s Choice Awards.”

It’s totally not OK to threaten to boycott someone just because they don’t want to put their personal business in the streets. —- This has been quite an interesting couple of days huh?

  1. I thought she had already come out the closet.

  2. This is ridiculous! You can’t force someone and threaten to boycott them if they don’t tell THEIR personal business.

  3. [...] proposition 8 has caused too much non sense to take place. I just found out via Ebony Intuition and Clutch that Queen Latifah is being pressured to come out of the closet by numerous prominent gay [...]

  4. I hate when the LGBTQ community takes this stance! Its only an America attribute to put who you fucking out there. Not all Americans share this attribute. ESPECIALLY, African Americans were homosexuality is still taboo, ESPECIALLY celebrities who get stalked and their privacy invaded, none of the pseudo-intellectuals would give a fucking damn about the queens feelings just their cause. . .

  5. It's me baby

that’s those freakin gays for you, bunch of arrogant bullies

  6. Aren’t they in fact “outing” her by even the fact they are threatening her to come out or be boycotted? I mean are they threatening any straight entertainers to support Prop 8? This country is so fake - L.A. is the gay capital of probably the world - almost everyone is gay or seems to be gay enough that if they said they weren’t gay no one would ever believe them and here they are fighting gay marriage and partner benefits. Most people out there know the Queen is gay as she is pretty out in some circles however, she should never be forced to make an announcement about it - it’s her life and she is also setting precedent for other artists that don’t want to make a huge deal about their sexuality.

  7. who even said that Queen Latifah was gay?

  8. I thought she was just single….like most black women are!

  9. Hell if there wasn’t so many unhappy people in the world today from lack of knowing love whether it’s male or female, people can live their lives the way they want but in reality GOD made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve but do you Boo!

ok im gettin tired of this damn shit!! Q.L. doesnt have to let anyone know who she is lickin or stickin. It’s none of anyone’s goddamn business…worry about what wrong in ya own life stupid ppl. there’s so mony other things to worry about in this world and these ppl worryin about whether she is eating pussy or not. Get a fuckin life!!!!!

  11. Cut the bull Leave this beautiful woman and her personal business alone Mind your business and attend to yourself I will support her through a bullshit boycott and through her career Fuck the latter Go Mrs. Covergirl Queen

Queen be strong. Don’t let gay terroists dictate your actions. They don’t understand what it’s like in the black community. Black and latino americans have a hard time accepting a gay lifestyle. They might not stone you in a public place but in the privacy of the voting booth it’s on and poppin. Your coming out won’t change that.

Has it been proven that this young lady is gay? Are people assuming that just because she is single? News flash, there are many single people out there that haven’t become confused about what God purposed for their lives. I say confused because any bible scholars know that God looks at this lifestyle as an abomination. Even so, if she is that way, that is between her and her maker.

To add to the previous post, even if proposition 8 is passed, those counterfeit marriages are not feasible in the eye sight of God. I guess they are doing this just to get life or health insurance through their partner’s job?

  15. Please . Do people have anything better to do then get into someone else’s business. She is a grown ass woman . Who cares about her sexual preference. That is her business. And besides what does it have to do with you ? Quit being so damn nosey. The lady is beautiful and has it going on. Don’t hate appreciate.

  16. Queen Latifah has a faith and a fan base large enough where she does not have to fear the boycott of a group of simpletons. They could only WISH they had the power to stall ANYONE’s career…especially that of the Queen’s! The unmitigated gall of these people to think that they can force anyone to do anything! Queen Latifah is a world-renowned artist who has the right to her privacy. How dare they think that they are in a position to threaten her on ANY level! I can see how their so-called powerful voices are inadequate without the Queen’s, but they’re just going to have to scream a little louder. Gay or straight…if Queen Latifah wanted to exercise HER OPTION to support whatever it is that they are trying to do…she would have done so by now. Ever heard that saying, “If it don’t fit…don’t force it!”? Get a clue!

  17. It is kind of annoying that she keeps on frontin’ as if she is heterosexual. But to boycott her because she doesn’t want to come out of the closet is going waaaay too far!

  18. La' Donna

Again— it’s her business. Who actually cares? She will still be one of my favorite actresses/rappers!

  19. For all of those people who don’t have a real life, and get their kicks sticking their noses in other people’s business; You might need to take a look in your own closets. You might find skeletons you didn’t know about hanging in there. Get off the Queen, her sexual preference is between her and GOD. None of you have the right to judge her. How many of you are still “in the closet”? I have never seen such gossipy, no life people. Get a life, so you can have something to do besides judge others.

  20. Blackice

I think it’s unfair for someone to make someone try and do things that they don’t want to.

didn’t nobody make these people get up and go tell the world their sexual preferences they did that on their own they just need to leave her alone she’s not hurting nobody just trying to make a living just like we are.

this is disgraceful to be in somebodies personal life the way they are that is going way to far that’s like harassment or something to much pressure for no good reason there is just some parts of your life you just shouldn’t have to share with the public famous or not i back Queen 100% in the choices she’s making to keep some parts of her life private.

Its okay to be yourself. When you feel that you’re comfortable to air out your personal business then do it. Do it for you and not because someone is pressuring you. There’s alot of people that would like to come out of the closet, but are afraid of what people would say. If you’re not comfortable in your shoes, then how would you want someone to be comfortable standing next to them!!!

  22. who freaking cares i don’t

  23. Since when has Queen Latifa been gay, is this just coz shes single, Im single dont mean im gay does it. Them losers that care about sexuality should get a life, if its love then its love u cant change ur own emotions and feelings. Stay strong Queen Latifa, i suppport u whether ur gay or not it dont matter.

  24. Since when is a person’s sex life become public domain?

  25. popepee

Im with skillz, I thought was single, black woman, like myself, but by choice. And if she is gay so what!!!! no pressure needed.
